Day 202 (9p21.2-9p13.3): a six-letter repeat that causes ALS


Day 202 has 42 protein-coding genes (browser view) including C9orf72 (chromosome 9 open reading frame 72).

C9orf72 is home to a microsatellite: “GGGGCC” which can be found repeated up to thirty times in healthy people, but sometimes found hundreds of times in families who have¬†familial forms of ALS.
