Day 351 (Yq12): three days of heterochromatin; the XYY myth

Day 351 has no protein-coding genes (browser view). The rest of Chromosome Y is constitutive heterochromatin – the longest such stretch in the genome.

About 1/1000 men have an extra Y chromosome. Early studies suggested a high overrepresentation among criminals, which grew into an unsubstantiated myth. XYY men are on average taller and have slightly lower IQs, but most are clinically normal and never know that they have an extra Y.
